Here's a short, funny story for learning vocabulary. As a student of English, you should read
this story at least three times. Difficult words are explained on the right side of the page.

A man who (1) was involved in a (2) terrible motorcycle accident was unable to speak when he
(3) regained consciousness. Wanting to know how long he had been unconscious, he a took (4) a pad of paper
and a pen from (5) the bed-stand and wrote one word: "Date?". He
gave the pad to (6) a nurse who (7) handed the pad back to the patient after writing one more word: "Married!".
